Poem, 3 October 2018.
On a given day
I eat croissants for breakfast
Sticky rice for lunch
And dosais for dinner.
Who am I?
I eat pasta with cutlery
I eat rice with my hands
I eat sushi with chopsticks
And slurp my soup directly from my bowl.
Who am I?
I dream in English
My endearments are in Tamil
I curse in German
And I chitchat in Indonesian.
Who am I?
I have South Indian features
I wear a blue beach dress
My feet are shod in Echo sandals
And my jewellery is Dayak.
Who am I?
I love Bharathnatyam
I move to Salsa
I enjoy a tapdance
And I am fond of hiphop.
Who am I?
M.S. Subbalaxmi moves me
And so does Tchaikovsky
Cesaria Evora calms my soul
And Queen is a favourite.
Who am I?
I grew to adulthood in India
Went to the US of A to study
Worked across Southeast Asia
And migrated to Bali for a charmed life.
Who am I?
I specialized in business management
Shifted to forest science
Dabble in creative writing
And am exploring the art of mediation.
Who am I?
My family is Hindu
My in-laws are Catholic
I lived in Buddhist and Muslim countries
And I profess no religious sentiments
Beyond concern for the earth & fellow species.
Who am I?
I grew up in the mountains
Matured in a city
Worked in the forests
And live in a coastal village.
Who am I?
I am neither here nor there
This nor that
Everything and nothing.
An amalgam that challenges boxing and labelling
An increasingly common product of our times😉
I just loved it! so true on this day and age.
😊
How right you are!
